undeserved；　　　for　　　Gabriel　　　had　　　applied　　　himself　　　to　　　the　　　meal　　　with　　　a　

very　promising　appetite；　until　it　was　spoilt　by　Mrs　Varden　herself；　

and　　　　　Joe　　　had　　　as　　　great　　　a　　liking　　　for　　　the　　　female　　　　society　　　　of　　the
